POSITION: Tour Docent for The Heidelberg Experience
EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Contract / Seasonal
COMPENSATION: $25 - $50 / tour
APPLICATION DEADLINE: January 31st, 2019
Reporting to the Program Manager and Executive Assistant, Heidelberg Tour Docents lead tours of the Heidelberg Project site for a variety of constituents, including local K-12 schools, local and international colleges and universities, local and international cultural organizations, as well as other tourist groups visiting from around the world.
Heidelberg Tour Docents serve as liaisons to the organization and are expected to have a working knowledge of past and present installations at the site, current programs and upcoming events, the history and mission of the Heidelberg Project and the philosophy behind Tyree Guyton’s work.
+ Strong oral communication and presentation skills
+ Ability to manage groups of all sizes (2-40 people)
+ Basic knowledge of art and art history
+ Basic knowledge of Detroit history and geography
+ Previous teaching experience and/or experience in working with youth is preferred but not required
