Curator of Black History, The Henry Ford

Amber N. Mitchell is a historian and educator born and raised on Detroit's west side. She currently serves as the founding Curator of Black History at The Henry Ford in Dearborn, MI.

As a public historian, Amber strives to preserve and uplift the stories of underrepresented peoples in cultural institutions and transform cultural and historical institutions into accessible reflections of our communities. Before joining The Henry Ford, Amber worked at Whitney Plantation (Wallace, LA), the National WWII Museum (New Orleans, LA), and the American Association for State and Local History (Nashville, TN). She is also the Founder and Lead of ANM Cultural Strategies LLC, an arts and cultural consultancy.

She holds a master’s degree in History from Indiana University and a bachelor's in History from Wayne State University in Detroit, MI.
